The following message was issued by the manufacturer:
We have decided to voluntarily implement a replacement program for the RECARO Optia seat. You will receive a replacement product free of charge.
In dynamic tests conducted as part of comparison testing, the seat separated from the Isofix base.
We are taking this test result very seriously. We have thus been implementing numerous measures since receiving this information and have been working extremely conscientiously and intensely on a systemic analysis.
We have conducted a large number of static and dynamic tests and calculations. In all of our internal and external tests conducted with European certified partners (ADAC, TASS, CATARC) ― and under conditions that far exceed European standards (Euro NCAP) ― the problem described has not occurred.
Because the safety of customers is our highest priority, we have decided to voluntarily replace all RECARO Optia seats.
In the case you own a RECARO Optia seat we will exchange your product free of charge. You can choose between the following RECARO seat models as your replacement: the Optiafix, Young Sport Hero, or Monza Nova IS.
As of now you can register for the replacement program using a specially designed online tool on the website safety.recaro-cs.com. We have also set up a hotline to answer questions. The hotline service team can be reached daily from 6 AM to 10 PM CET by dialing 0800-6863 560 from Germany or +49 (0) 9255 77-66 from outside of Germany. All questions can be answered in German or English.
None of the other RECARO products used in combination with the Isofix bases RECARO SmartClick or RECAROfix are affected by the replacement program.
